No oil pressure

I swear I have the worst luck ever. :banghead: I just got my new 5.0 stroker in my car. The shop had a problem getting oil to build pressure on the initial start. They finally got pressure- test drove and everything was great. I brought it home and let it sit over night. I went to crank it the next morning, and as soon as it started no oil pressure again. Before I could turn it off the pressure gauge shot up. I let it idle for a minute, and pressure was still good. I cut it off let it sit over night again. I went out this morning to crank it, and yet again had no pressure. I had a buddy come over and check it. He think's it maybe the oil pump. The pump is a brand new MMR billet pump. Other than the pump what do you guy's and girl's think could be the problem? Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Jessie

Check it with another pressure gauge. Could be the sending unit. Did it sound like something was wrong or did it sound smooth.

possibly an oil filter ive seen the drain back malfuntion and this causes a problem similar to a dry oil filter start

checked with external gauge. it also showed no pressure.
havent tried new filter yet. thats next on my list.
has anyone heard of anyone having a problem with the pressure relief valve? was told it could be a possible culprit?

I would think oil filter as well. Try using a wix filter. If your not already

rag in the oil pan. Screen stopped up.

not a filter issue.. gonna drop the pan tomorrow

Check the pickup also.

We found out the one Steve put on his new engine had a hole in the tube where the mount tab was welded to it between the pump and the screen. We primed it with a drill and it took forever to get oil to the rockers on the stand and when it did it was full of bubbles and barely flowing.

Somebody might have forgot to put the oil pump gasket on. Just an idea.

Who built the motor? Did they check the clearences of the gears and housing before installing the oil pump? Some aftermarket pumps need to be checked before install. Mod motors usually don't have oiling issues
