tired of losin

ok me and a fellow co-worker own mustangs mine an 01 gt 5spd with jlt rai,mgw short shifter, bbk underdrives, and soon to be an o/r x-pipe

my friend now has the keys to an 08 gt/cs 5spd mod: stock maybe optional gears

i know he flows way more air than since its a 3v than i do but for some reason he pulls on me more than what i would like maybe not so bad now since i add'd the bbk's but i think he still may..... will the xpipe help in chasin him down any? stayin away from gears and forced induction plus im on a budget any ideas on my rwhp and his rwhp?

gears are going to be your best friend

I agree on a gear swap if you haven't done so already.

But, the S197 is interesting platform since it has a better computer and the 3 link type setup in the rear suspension. Tune, CAI, and at least a 3.55 gear will put the S197 in the 12's. So you are going to have your hands full. Get some tires where you will hook off the line and some gears. Practice shifting as well

so this is a fight im not really gonna win without gears thought about some3:90's but they are pricey most of the races we get into are over a distance couple of miles

I don't really think the X-pipe will help that much if you still have a stock catback. Opening up the mid pipe then bottle necking it with a 2 1/4" catback with crimped bends won't help much.

I think gears and a custom tune would help you out a lot against him, but I don't think that'll be enough personally.

SlowJoe 05-11-2008 04:55 PM

i could see out running him in the 1/8 or 1/4 miles with some gears and tires but a long run u better get a higher budget

01silver freak 05-11-2008 05:34 PM

hey i could always get a crotch rocket and be done with it huh?

Get some gears and meet him at the track. Racing @ 120mph for that distace is not a good idea. :nono:

He may have more power, but your car is lighter by probably 400 lbs.
