Tune

Where is a good place to get my car tuned that won't break it off in me?

How far are you willing to travel?

Birmingham area unless I can get a killer deal

I don't know of anyone in the state that does tunes on the fox family processors.

This is the reason Italian LX and I bought Tweecers several years ago and learned to tune our own cars

There is a guy in Tuscaloosa who does but he does it with a wideband and driving it around. Doesn't sound reliable to me especially for 3 bills

QWKSNKE 03-14-2009 08:21 PM

depends on what software he is using.
Base tune is better done driving the car around for 20 miles or so. This eliminates drivability issues. Then strap it to the dyno to fine tune WOT power

I think he uses SCT but not 100% on that.

If I knew dick about tuning I would buy a Moates setup and do it myself.

If you buy the stuff, it will force you to learn :D

Seriously I paid Panhandle Performance $600 to tune my cobra back in 2001 or 2002 and I swore that I would never pay somebody to do it again.

FYI, the Tweecer R/T and the Moates stuff are the only items that allow ANYBODY to real time datalog a foxbody EEC. SCT has no love for the foxbody and whoever uses it is flying blind because they cannot datalog to see what changes need to be made.

Sometimes the hardware is not what makes the difference.......it is usually the person behind the keyboard.

If I were in your shoes I would by a Moates QH and use BE/EEC-analyzer or Paul's EEC-Editor software and drive to Lee or Brian's house and get them to show you a few of the minor details.

For the price of a "Professional" tune you can get the QH, WB and software...

Note that there is a very steep learning curve doing it this way but it will benefit you more in the long run if you are willing to learn...if not then pay someone to burn you a chip at a speed shop that is reputable.
