quick question

can the MAF on a 91 5.0 work on a 91 2.3 and after i get it on and pluged in and drive it aound the block what would make it run like crap (other than the redneck engineering)

RedSuperRanger23 07-21-2008 03:01 PM

you would more than likely need to change out the matching injectors as well. It would also help if you are running something such as a twEECer but prob not neccessary if you run matching injectors.

In a few weeks I will have my svo back on the road. We can meet up one day and I can tell you why it is too much trouble to do that. Unless you know more than Dale.

Your 2.3 mustang came with one? MAF

IIRC, 1991 was the first year for the MAF on the 2.3, my 89 (Ranger) is speed density wheras the 1992 (Ranger) I just picked up is MAF.

after putting the one from the 5.0 on my 2.3 it ran so bad so i just put the factory crap back on ... maybe i just need to quit trying to change up the ole 4banger

:agree: They also started that year with DIS,and the twin plug head.

yep mine has the twin plug head and my plugs keep getting burned quick

My wife's '90 used to burn plugs real quick. I put the factory Motorcraft plugs in it and it's fine now. Is the car running too lean?

It may have been for the Mustangs, but the Rangers got DIS and the dual plugs in 89.

Wide band on the dyno. That is a quick way to find out what is happening. First put the stock stuff on the mustang and make sure it is tuned up. This may take some money but will save you in the long run. Then Decide if you want to put a lot of time and money into it or just drive it for mpg. either way you can find out some on the dyno on A/F and what is wrong if anything is. I found a bent valve and a bad fuel pressure regulator on mine. Best money I every spent was wide band and Buying Matt dinner!
Make a plan and stick with it.

Unless you are running or going to run a power adder turbo, blower etc it is best just to leave it stock....:jester:
