Found out what the noise was this Sunday @ Steele. Crank Walk.

Torque converters sometimes have paint on them which causes them to not "insert" correctly at the back of the flexplate/crank. He said it was very tight getting this & the trans to bolt in. Of course now he realizes it may have been too tight.

How I made it froom Steele to Bessemer with over 1/8" crank walk; I'll never know. He's talking about a 460 now so there might be some 302-based turbo stuff up F/S like Vic Jr.s, Vic Intake, turbo and kit ...

EDIT: well. Block was split right up the middle. 600 rwtq is a killer.
Big block is a go...already has all the goods sold. Except turbo
