AOD trans differences?
is the AOD in a NA essex v6 powered car the same as one in a supercharged essex. (obviously assuming we are not comparing an aode to an aod)
id not what are the differences in the various AOD transmissions? and which are compatible with a SC essex v6. google has some conflicting info in the threads i read. |

I would think so, considering the AOD in the T'bird SC's were'nt your everyday AOD's that you would find in a Crown Vic. Torque converters would probably be different as well.

so far i've read one from a 5.0 car will work. but it would be nice to know what exactly is different. my buddy has a 1990 XR7 with the SC essex but has a bad trans and we're just trying to locate a proper donor for a new trans.

Hmm, does the one he has have the heavy duty OD servo? (Like the A2 OD servo in the SC's tranny), or do you know?

Not sure how quickly Mike will respond but you can pm sccapri on here (I think his email is in his forsale thread). He has had several Thunderbird SuperCoupes and knows all about the transmissions...I think he did a 5speed swap in one at one time too.
