Tensioner pulley

I've got a 93 five liter with a squeaking tensioner pulley.

Will this fit?

Or do I have to get this?

Re: Tensioner pulley

if it is just the pulley itself..... i have one laying around... or you can go to te parts house and pick up the idler pulley and use it as the tensioner pulley.... I have noticed no difference.

but i have a sn95

good luck, and i haven't seen you post before so WELCOME

Re: Tensioner pulley

Thanks,

The pulley is the only problem, the bearing has become noisy in the past few months.

Is the belt width/rib number the same between 93 and 94/95? Is the pulley the same diameter?

I don't want to have to buy the whole tensioner assembly, just a pulley.

Re: Tensioner pulley

both should be 6 rib belts.... usually the overall diameter of the pullies are the same.... if worse comes to worse, you would prolly just have a tighter belt.

Re: Tensioner pulley

well... the idler is on a spring... so as long as it turns it will work... and it will only get as tight as the spring is, so the belt wont be any tighter... the idler arm just wont go in as far... but you have like 7 inches of play... so i wouldnt worry about the diameter, just weather the bearing will fit in place of the other one... but go to oreilly first... they had all the 87-93 and not the 94-95 pullets

a spring builds tension the further it is compressed etc. so i think it will be little bit tighter with a larger pulley. The pulley is the same 87-93 &94-95 i am sure. so whatever.

Re: Tensioner pulley

Thanks for the help guys.

I went back to the parts store. This time they looked for an idler pulley rather than a tensioner pulley, and they found the proper year pulley without the tensioner assembly.

No more squeaking.
