we had one that the hole was messed up in and it gave starter problems from day one. it finally took the flywheel out.

I would not put it together w/o one. I have seen people mess alot of stuff up that did not use one.

just use the inspection cover at the bottom. My car has never had the full plate since I've owned it (6 years now) and I've only put one clutch in it until I swapped to the TKO last fall

and remember my coupe clyde? we had to cut the starter part to make it fit right and it also gave starter problems
