Engine plans have been updated

I updated the very first post to reflect the change as outlined below.

Well after talking to Brain at AD performance and emailing a few other guys on Hard Core 5.0 the plans have changed some what as far as what the engine goals are for the little cobra. Due to some minor changes in Fords production of the boss block like changing the cylinder skirt length, I have decided to just go a head with the original plan of going to a 9.5" deck dart sportsman block. I can use all the parts that I currently have except for the Scat 4340 3.00" main 4.1" stroke crank as the dart block has 2.75" mains. Everyone already knew this of course....

As far as the cost change it should only be about 300-400 dollars (I think based on prices I was quoted)

Now I need to get busy and sell off some more of my junk!!!!

Now you're going off the deep end. Might see some track-times in about 2 years, huh?

I know this procedure first hand

Probably so but as this is the last high H.P. "Hotrod" that I plan to build I think I should just go ahead and get a good after market block to put all my existing 418 forgred parts in?

I thought about using the '70 351w block that I currently have that has been converted to a 4 bolt main cap setup but when I decide to add boost the block is still probably going to be the limiting factor. All the guy's that I have talked to that are running these blocks have still added block fill about half way up the inside of the block. I may just take it down to Pete and get him to sonic test it to see how much meat it really has in the cylinders & main webbing. My guess is that it will still flex without adding block fill....

Not to mention going from a 3.00" main to a 2.75" main will help as the rpms climb.....

Will just have to see...

I've seen many early 70's blocks and a few lightning blocks.

One combo has had a fogger and a plate on it with a jericho as well as a procharger blow thru setup and a glide. This motor has been together for a while too
