string of bad luck

ok first off recently my bolt on exhaust decides its want to unbolt itself as im passing a honda causing exhaust leak. now today is worst noise ive heard come from a car in a very long time i go to crank my pony up and i hear a knockin noise but not from the motor so i immeditly turn off my car to stop any damage that may be goin on everything shuts off cept for the starter tryin to crank my car with the keys out i crank it back up and turn off.......still doing it and all of a sudden it stops anyone ever heard of this happening with the new edges? or is this a sign i need to give her a rest and pick up another car?

I had the same thing happen to my 91 coupe .. never had that happen to my 01 but on the 91 i replaced the starter after that started to happen everytime i cranked it

i had that happen on a 93 ranger and replace the solenoid worked fine till i sold it.

Sorry I did'nt get back to you on the exhaust the other day,but there was,and still is a major family drama thing going on right now,that I can't go into.Just wanted to let you know I was'nt ignoring you man!

Replace the solenoid first. If that doesn't work replace the starter. Sounds like the bendix on the starter got stuck

hey eric no big deal i got my phone cut off so im dead to the world i got it fix btw glad to have the exhaust fixd. ive never replaced a solenoid before can a first timer handle it? plus i dont really wanna replace it unless i got to

yes you can change it. very simple. seeing how the soleniod is so much cheaper than starter imo i would try it first.
