Procharger P1sc-2 v's Vortech sq v2 v's Novi 2k
I starting to plan my next moves for the 96. I have been reading alot of info on these chargers, but I have no real world experience with any of them. I'm leaning twards Procharger for the fact that they come with a intercooler and for $275 more you can upgrade to a 3 core sheet metal cooler. I've read that they had some oil leak problems on the original P1sc, but can't find anything negative about the p1sc-2 or D1. Another plus of the Procharger is that I would not have to tap the oil pan.
Vortech sq v2, I know alot of guys run this charger, but I have not been able to find any with an intercooler setup that can compete with the price of Procharger. I know that they sell an aftercooler, but It seems to be affected by heat soak easily...correct me if I'm wrong. Novi 2000, This seems to be a great charger from what I have read, but the price is steep, and really steep with the addition of their intercooler setup. Price is not the biggest concern, but if hte gains are not much greater than the other chargers above, then I don't see a point in spending the extra. The ATI has a blow through MAF setup, while the Vortech has a draw through....does that make a huge difference? Any input from guy with these S/C's or anyone with first hand knowedge is welcome! Thanks Stats from manufactures websites: Vortech V-2 Sq Maximum Airflow - 1000 cfm Max Boost Pressure - 20 psi -------------------------------- Procharger P-1sc-2 Maximum Airflow - 1200 cfm Max Boost Pressure - 30 psi -------------------------------- Paxton Novi 2000 RR Maximum Airflow - 1400 cfm Max Boost Pressure - 27 psi

General rule: you cannot go wrong with a Vortech. The reliability is top-notch and the power capacity is there; even without an intercooler.
FWIW, if I were buying an SC, it would be a Vortech.

Vortech is absolutely reliable, you can make your own A/A intercooler for less than $500 (I will be posting my build up). Gas mileage is 26+ on the highway!! |

You should get to see my setup this weekend. I have no problems with it whatsoever. My only complaint about the Vortech is that if you have to swap a belt you get to take the entire bracket off and basically remove the blower to do it; I'm sure it's that way with other blowers too though.

I like Procharger, but I am biased since I used to have one. Any of the superchargers you have listed will be fine on your car. The question you need to know the answer to is, "What are my future plans?"
This will be a determining factor on which blower you pick. Are you going to stick with 10 psi setup (400rwhp) from this point forward. Or do you anticipate to "turn up the wick" 5 years from now. "Happy with 400rwhp from now on"= Vortech or Procharger Hell no! I am going to turn it up to 500-600rwhp down the road = Novi 2000 Hopefully Rob will chime in at some point since he has had the Vortech and Paxton on his car. On the MAF setups, for whatever reason Doug says that draw through is easier to tune (Tim at MPH also claims this). I ran a blow thru on my car because I felt it was more accurate readings. This is just my opinion though. I have no proof. When using an intercooler, you can use whichever setup you prefer. (draw thru or blow thru)

Vortech....great entry level blower, if you have no reason to go past 400hp this blower is great.
Novi...this bastard hit hard, i never had it past 400 hp but it came on alot stronger than my Vortech...great at 600 hp or 400 hp KB...obviously this is my favorite of the three. price is steep but with KB swapping to a 2.1 and 2.6, I see alot of 1.7 and 2.2 being sold for the new upgrade, so there's a possibility of getting one cheap Now if I had to do it all over again, I would have leaved my car at 400 hp and 400 ft-lbs. My car is fun to drive but its gone overboard...I have to leave now but I will chime in later
