...the turbo 347 again
After going through 3 C4's, my buddy decided to buy a prepped 'Glide. Well, then he came along an Art Carr AOD and traded for the glide! SO now the combo reads:
white fox coupe 347" forged bottom 10:1 Victor Jr's Victor EFI 55# inj. cutom cam (sounds stock!) .540's/.560's ArtCarr AOD 3.55's GT70/Q turbocharger with 3.5->3" downpipe, factory catback with flowmasters Non-intercooled. 8-10 psi: 450 ish/520ish 16 psi: 522/600. (through an AOD!) Drove it to the dyno I haven't driven it yet. But supposedly perfectly streetable.

Re: ...the turbo 347 again
Car made first pass at the track (1/8mile) with the turbo setup last night. Went 6.95 @ 103.xx and blew a header gasket when it came on hard...thus only boosted about 13 psi. After new gasket, he tried to give it more boost and for some reason; thought LOWERING the fuel pressure would help...detonated bad & he let out to a 7.50 @ 72 mph. It's got a 6.50 @ 106 or better in it I know.
Drove car to & from track edit: 6.95 @ 103 is equivalent to around 10.90's @ about 125.

Re: ...the turbo 347 again
He's leaving a LOT left on the table. There have been MANY Turbo Mustangs to run 6's with a 100% stock engine. a 347, with Vic head should go 6.30's fairly easily.

302 in my boat went 12.6@108 NA.
He needs to tune on it before he hurts the motor. |

Re: ...the turbo 347 again
Found out what the noise was this Sunday @ Steele. Crank Walk.
Torque converters sometimes have paint on them which causes them to not "insert" correctly at the back of the flexplate/crank. He said it was very tight getting this & the trans to bolt in. Of course now he realizes it may have been too tight. How I made it froom Steele to Bessemer with over 1/8" crank walk; I'll never know. He's talking about a 460 now so there might be some 302-based turbo stuff up F/S like Vic Jr.s, Vic Intake, turbo and kit ... EDIT: well. Block was split right up the middle. 600 rwtq is a killer. Big block is a go...already has all the goods sold. Except turbo
