I have learned my lesson in building the small stuff wicked or go with the cubes and less radical. I'd build the 4V 5.4 ya its stuffed in there butt how much tinkering do you really have to do on the mod motors( no adjusting valves, no setting the timing)

5.4 2v is really alot easier, the pain in teh ass factor goes up 10 fold with a 5.4 4v compared to 4.6/5.4 2v or 4.6 4v

not to mention cost

5.4 2v is actually a pretty easy swap...the 4.6 and 5.4 are identical except for deck height and intake manifold...the only real modifications you have to do are adapter plates to put the 4.6 intake on(5.4 intake sucks) widen the mid pipe and a cowl hood

if you use the new hardballer 5.4 intake you wont need a cowl hood for the 5.4
a company is very soon about to start making 5.4 2v longtubes for the mustang chasis

the 4.6 2v->4.6 4v swap consist of a 4v motor and a few butt connectors to adapt to the 2v harness and a computer retune

just slapping 4v heads and intake on a gt block will work BUT you will have about 7.5:1 compression because the 4v heads have 53cc chambers vs 42 cc chambers in the PI 2v heads, however if you put flat top pistons in your shortblock it would work fine(easier to buy a new shortblock with forged goodies in it already)

5.4 4v... just barely fits between the shock towers, the power brake booster wont fit without heavy modification, engine has to be moved a little or run manual brakes, intake manifolds consist of sullivan intake(expensive) Cobra R intake(expensive and almost non existent) Boss290 intake...expensive and the TB is on the wrong side(has to be imported from Australia)...navigator intake is even worse than the 2v 5.4 truck intake

I bought a wrecked 01 cobra last week. So I'm swappind to a 4v setup. I'm looking to buy or do some trading on a procharger or kenne bell s/c. If any one has one let me know. Does anyone know what kind of boost the stock block will handle? Also what kind of power will I be looking at with a safe tune?

stock 01 cobra bottom end? same as GT approx 400 at the wheels is considered safe, just wont require as much boost to make it there as a 2v, the weakpoint of modulars is the rods/pistons, the block/crank are safe to more power than most will ever make(the blocks and cobra cranks have been used reliably at well over 1000rwhp)

put in hbeams and forged pistons and your looking at 800rwhp+

this guy http://www.alabamaracingscene.net/fo...ber.php?u=2400
has a procharger kit for sale

something about a motor with 4.4 stroke and 3.7 bore seems more like a diesel...

hey sorry about going off topic but do you know anything about 3650 tranmissions. i think my input shaft is not set right and it wont shift in high rpm. do you think that its the reason for doing so?

I'm no trans guy. I just know from the experiences i've had. It could be the shaft if you've had it out, but if not it's not likely. I have had that problem and when we got the trans out the tob was ATE UP. I would hit like 6 grand grab to shift press clutch and it just didn't grab. I had to let the rpm's drop and reclutch ( I don't even think that's a word lol) then shift. It was weird
