I say eat some pie, then take it to a stealership and have them change the oil in it, isn't that what all vette owners do?

If your engine calls for 7 qts with the filter change then that is what I would put in, and mark the stick so you know where that level is.
Too many times sticks are wrong, if you can get the actual dimensions for the stick and the tolerances to it you could measure yours and see if it is off or not.
