^This as well. I always disassemble and blueprint my oil pumps before they go on.

If you paid someone to build the engine and install it, take it back to them, especially before you dive in to deep.

dropping off at the shop today. hopefully they can get it figured out without having to tear into the motor

turns out the very bottom of the pan had been pushed up slightly. it wasnt visible until the pan was off. it was creating contact with the pickup.
