compound boost

what is the purpose?more boost?

this ideal has been in my head lately. thinking about a Eaton m90 on the turbo coupe and one of coupes t3s. the adapter would not be that hard to make and maybe some type cooler under it. i know i would have to do head studs and 30 psi is all i could do with out cast iron head leaking. could i go from turbo to supercharger with out using a inter cooler in between them? i would have some type air to water cooler under supercharger.

There was an article about it several months back in MM&FF, basically it was about using both to cover up the weak points of both systems. It boiled down to using the properly sized unit for the application in either system and compounding was unnecessary. It actually showed that more power could be made without compounding. Big rigs have had them in the past but I don't recall any in use now.

Detroit diesels used a turbo blowing into a supercharger... and the engines were 2-stroke!!!

If you plan on compounding, you will probably need a better fuel than 93 octane...or a methanol backup. It works, but not really needed for what you want. The right turbo on there and you'll be happy.

No reason to make it overly complicated. Simpler is better.
