Got a strange problem here...

Ok, I've had this problem with my coupe for awhile, and it's bugging the crap out of me. At about 1/3 throttle or so, I've got a power surge of sorts. There's no miss or popping, it runs smooth, it feels like the A/C compressor is cycling on and off (but it's not turned on). It only does it at that point of the throttle regardless of speed, but it's more noticable on the highway in OD. The TPS checks out ok. The ignition system is fine, as well as the fuel system (I've gone over all the basic stuff) as far as I know. The one thing that might be suspect, but I have yet to try taking off, is the Hypertech chip/module that's on the computer. I've been meaning to take that POS off considering it really does nothing for power, but it's ran fine with it until now, other than that I don't know . Any ideas?

It may be, although it still pulls strong and doesn't feel like it's slipping. I wouldn't rule that out though, It's just weird how it does it at that point in the throttle and around 3000 RPM's.

Check the bushing on the tb for the tv cable. I've seen this issue before when the bushing becomes worn or cracked.

Will do, although I've got the good bronze/brass one on there. That would make sense though.

I've seen some instances where "Chips" have been installed and it cracked the circuit board in the PCM. Had a 98 or 99 V6 Mustang at the dealer I worked at that would randomly shut off because of it. Pulled the PCM and found a SuperChip in the back.

I'm going to pull that chip/module out and see what happens. The TV cable bushing is fine.

how long has the TV Cable been on the car? Sometimes they tend to stretch...
