Aftermarket Blocks

World Man o' War, Dart, Boss or other aftermatket block that I've forgot... discuss. I'm planning on a 351W based build.

What kind of power range are you looking for?
Are you wanting to run n/a, nitrous, supercharger, turbo?

Im not sure on the power range just yet, but Id like to.do a single turbo setup. The main reason for using an aftermarket block is the ability to go to a 4.125 bore without blinking and still have some meat left to spare.

Just figured I'd ask. A lot of people on the turbo forums are running stock 351w block's and over 800rwhp hopefully mine will be close to that. But a aftermarket block is good for piece of mind! And since your thinking of going turbo talk to Matt (coupe) on here, and Reed at WORK TURBOCHARGERS www.workturbochargers.com they really know their shit and can help you a lot.

Yeah, piece of mind and overbuilding is probably gonna be the name of this game. Id really like this to be the first and last engine I build for this car. I just don't know who makes the best block or if there's really that much difference amongst them.

Well the man o war block comes with two extra bolt holes per cylinder for the cylinder heads and all of the main caps are 4 bolt. Where dart and boss blocks are 4 bolt mains only on the center main caps.

How does two extra bolt holes per cylinder for the head bolts work if the heads you're using comes with the standard number if bolt holes? Maybe I'm missing something here...

I don't think you have to use them if you don't want to or you buy the man o war cylinder heads or have your cylinder heads machined. I think they are used in high compression, and very high boost applications to keep the heads from lifting and blowing the head gaskets.

Yeah, I saw where it says provisions for the 2 extra per cylinder, so more than likely they wild have to be finished and tapped I guess.

I don't think you have to use them if you don't want to. I think they are optional if you don't want to all you do is cover them with the head gasket.
