Put your thinking caps on..

I want to tune my car for a little better fuel economy. Richard, Nathan, or Brian, what variables needs to be changed? Do you think it would help if the load variables were brought back down or adjusted to put the car back on a 0%-100% scale?

Eric, what does your book say about it?

It says move closer to work so you dont have to drive so far

J/K , I will read into it later, but I dont remember anything specific right now, but fuel economy has never really meant much to me, so I could have passed rightt over that info.

drive the focus! How much extra mpg can you really expect by tuning it for that, a couple?

Re: Put your thinking caps on..

Guess I'll give the first legit answer:

What does your fuel tables look like as far as commanded mixture in low loads? I'm sure it ramps up to a 11.5:1 or something far richer than a 14.6:1 mixture. With your load scales off you are getting into a rich state far sooner than you need to be. I'd suggest looking at your normal cruise load vs. performance load and modifying the fuel tables accordingly.

Re: Put your thinking caps on..

I'll put it this way, interstate crusing average 15 mpg last year. So far I have around 260- 270 miles on the car (in town driving) and I have used up almost 2 tanks of gas!
