Most of those additives are for worn-out engines. Their purpose is to "give them some new life." Only thing they do is restore some pressure because they are thicker and fill in the clearances better. if you don't need them, don't use them; they're expensive. Run synthetic instead.

heard of this problem before on dohc mod motors, replacing the pvc valve fixed some cars
