04 cobra smoking

my freind is fixing to buy a 04 corba for 19k, but the car has 33k on the odo. theres one problem the engin smokes a little, but it has plenty of oil pressure, dosent knock, and it idles smooth. i think it needs to be reringed and i just want to know how much it is going to be. but is the 03-04 cobra motor have the same issues when you take them apart, like do you have to get new head bolts, rods, ect?

When does it smoke? All the time? WOT only? Startup only?

I would not pay 19k for a 03-04 cobra that smokes unless it is a startup smoke like nearly all 01 cobras do from the factory

Head bolts should be replaced on nearly all cars when removed

Try replacing the pvc valve. Its not to expensive and sometimes it stops the smoking from cars. Replaced them on some saturns and they stopped smoking

werd.

change the oil and add some Lucas in there.

if I don't crank mine up for a while (2+ weeks) it will puff out smoke on start up... BUT that didn't happen until after I got a catless x-pipe.

There is no way I would put Lucas in a mod motor. It is way to thick for the tight oiling clearances a mod motor has

I would just take the valve out and put in an oil seperater.

I think I would steer clear of that deal.

My opinion is based off the fact that Ford created 5w-20 (very thin oil) for the mod motors. Putting something in that is as thick as hot caramel could cause oil starvation.

Don't get me wrong, Brian, Edgar, and I use this stuff for main and rod bearing lubricant (thin layer) when building engines but I wouldn't use it in an already running engine. I know somebody who has killed no less than 3 engines putting this stuff in there engines during oil changes
